Common Dreams II
Sound piece for an underground sound-installation by Maria Lucia Cruz Correia.
It was commissioned by Maria Lucia and inspired by her work 'Common dreams - floating garden'.

A few text fragments:

I remember variations of land.
Dried mud, hills, riverbanks, sand.
You know how your fysical environment influences the way you think?
I remember what my imagination looked like back then in 2018.
And I remember how my imagination changed.

Maybe it already was melancholy.
By now, for sure, I am passed irony.
Like predicted in one of those island-conversations.
Somebody said humor would become a thing of the past.
'One cannot feed on a joke.'
I smiled and agreed.

In a way, fantasising is all I did throughout history.
Is mythology not the common mother of religion, science and poetry?
Science and myth.
Both very human attempts to erect shelters from a world I could not understand.
But I had come to realise I had to renew my stories, at least.
Rotate things. Expose a hidden side.
Was it possible to fold the map any differently?

To have common dreams one needs to create a common language.
So, for example, 'indigeneity', what would that mean?
In a world where all sense of place and belonging is flooded.
What would the word 'indigenous' mean?
